Nassira is a 13-year-old Dutch girl from Moroccan descent. Her friends call her Nasser because she feels different than other girls. Nasser acts like a boy and she dislikes girl stuff. But when she has her first period, her mother thinks it is time to behave like a young woman. Does Nasser feel the same way?
Director and screenwriter Melissa Martens was born in Emmeloord, Netherlands, in 1986. She studied at Deltion College and graduated in Direction and Screenwriting from the Utrecht School of the Arts in 2015. She has wide experience as a camera operator and light technician. Before Nasser (2015), which she presented for her diploma, she had written and directed the short films Onder de Grond (2009) and It’s a Boy (2010).
